AMERICAN JEWISH HERITAGE MONTH

On April 20, 2006, President George W. Bush signed a proclamation designating every May as Jewish American Heritage Month. Perhaps, there should be an American Jewish Heritage stamp. There is a precedent for such a series of stamps with issuance of Black Heritage stamps every year since 1978.

There are so many American Jews who could, and should, be recognized on such a series of stamps.  The list includes Justices of the Supreme Court, Senators, Scientists, Patriots, etc.  For a list of many of them please visit the website: www.fau.edu/library/depts/judaica9.htm.  It is one of a few sites with listings of famous Jewish Americans.

If you feel, as I do, that there should be a series of annual Jewish Heritage stamp please write to the Postmaster General  and tell him so.  His address is:
